The beginning with the classic countdown and music to draw
the attention of the audience and make it known in any house hold the news is
coming on, the title sequence with bold red colours and images of topics from
the news before the drawn-out music fades and stops making the viewers silent
and ready to listen.
Within the half an
hour program they covered 6 stories the first being about the threat of terrorism
and how people supposedly were going abroad to train stories that involve high
risks to human life and public safety are almost always the first thing to be
covered due to their importance and how the audience should be focusing their
attention on it. The second story was about paparazzi intrusion and the effect
it has on those who have been through traumatic events like the Madeleine McCann
story, this focusing on society again and how people lives are being affected
also looking at politics with an interview with a politician or two. Thirdly they
looked at schools and the population growth, this thou an important issue not
life threating or overly urgent but still important enough for attention to be
brought to it. Next, they looked at foreign issues this however including death
however since its not in our country and it wasn’t an act of terror or a
shooting it was only the 4th story in the news showing how the news
covers England’s news first. Fifth, they looked at a historical topic and sent
a correspondent to look at the plague death victims showing the cultural heritage
and importance of English history to the BBC. Lastly a lighter topic to lighten
the news and the spirits of the audience, in this report they looked at comic relief
and covered celebrities and the good work they do for the charity showing happy
and warming footage and lighter news.
The news was read by Sophie Raworth, throughout her report
she was clear and read at a good pace to allow all the information she was saying
to have time to be taken in, specking in a formal tone with no slang or accent
to show authority. She also says good evening thou rhetorical the audience can
appreciate the politeness of who is addressing them. To be a news reporter you
need good reading and specking skills a frim tone and to be able to keep calm
and unbiased when reporting.
With the last stories they are usually not as important these are called slow news day stories, used when there is no more real news to promote and all the stories have been covered. Things that involve no death or destruction and are mostly meaningless information but nice to know, the example for this in this news story the red nose day event and taking up over 4 minutes on celebrities and the shows history, these are to cheer us up and make the audience feel more comforted and bring a little joy to what there watching so they will want to watch it again tomorrow.
